Common "do I still qualify if…" cases
…I'm retired or a senior? Yes, age doesn't matter. The income and insurance tests do.
…I'm self-employed? Yes, as long as you filed and meet the income/insurance tests.
…I declined my work benefits? No. Having access counts even if you declined it.
…I'm retired and opted out of my pension's dental plan? If you opted out before December 11, 2023 and can't opt back in, you may still qualify — that's the one pension exception.
…I only have provincial/social-program dental coverage? That doesn't count as private insurance, so you may still qualify.
