Renewal happens every year
Your CDCP coverage only lasts one benefit year. Each spring, the government re-checks that you still qualify — that's why you and your spouse or partner must file your tax returns before you renew. Service Canada can't confirm your income until the CRA processes your return.
How to renew (two ways)
- Online: sign in to your My Service Canada Account, open the Canadian Dental Care Plan section, and follow the renewal steps.
- By phone: call Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342 (TTY 1-833-677-6262).
Have your Social Insurance Number and your CDCP member ID ready.
Missed the June 1, 2026 deadline?
Renewal for the 2026–2027 year closed on June 1, 2026. If you didn't renew, your coverage ended June 30, 2026, and you can't renew late. You can submit a new application (applications for 2026–2027 opened June 2, 2026) — coverage resumes only if it's approved. Three things to know:
- There may be a coverage gap. Dental care you get between your old coverage ending and your new application being approved is not covered — and not paid back later.
- You'll get a new member ID once you're approved. Give the new one to your dentist.
- There's never a fee. The government does not charge to process an application or renewal — anyone asking for money is a scam.
Before your next renewal
File your taxes early (yours and your partner's), keep your address up to date in My Service Canada Account, and renew as soon as the window opens in the spring. Not sure you still qualify this year? Run our free eligibility check first.
